Nanobes

Clay creatures with off center attitudes.

The potters wheel makes forms that are round and symmetrical. Or not. Most people regard symmetry as beautiful. Some don't. There are structures that a scientist found deep inside the earth encased in solid rock. They are called Nanobes and are not alive. Or are they?

Hang with me. So one day, while throwing on my beloved Pacifica wheel, I decided to quit trying so hard to center the clay. I just let the clay go around and I went with it. This is what beginners do. It's not considered a good thing.

But I did it anyway, and these crazy looking shapes started emerging. I could tell right away who they were. Doting mother, growing teenager, loving child. I imagine that they are Nanobe creatures - rotating, reaching, emerging  from the darkness of solid rock into the sun, full of emotion. Their journeys show as rings and humps on their skin. They're alive. Yes, they're wierd and sometimes ugly. It's OK.

You  have to be a bit off center to appreciate off center.
